With this in mind, ASM International has made the very difficult decision to cancel IMAT 2020 – ASM’s Annual Meeting, scheduled for September 14-17, 2020 in Cleveland, Ohio. This cancellation also encompasses ASM’s in-person events. ASM’s Annual Business Meeting will be conducted virtually as scheduled (Sept. 14, 4:00-5:00pm EST). Please monitor future communications regarding the timing and format of additional events.

Before making this decision, we extensively monitored and evaluated health guidance from international health authorities and local travel and community restrictions. We also consulted with local venues regarding implementation of safety protocols applied to large gatherings and limiting group interactions.
We are extremely grateful to our organizing committee members, affiliates, industry partners and speakers, who have invested considerable time and effort in creating an outstanding program, as well as for all of our registrants and exhibitors, who have planned their schedules around attending.
We now turn our attention to IMAT 2021, scheduled for September 13-16, 2021 in St. Louis, Missouri. We’re expecting an even bigger and better conference, featuring a NEW co-location with Heat Treat 2021 and the Motion & Power Technology Expo. Special IMAT virtual preview sessions are currently being planned and coming soon!
Please be patient as we begin working through the cancellation process. We will send you additional correspondence regarding refunds or credits in the coming weeks. We appreciate your understanding in this truly unprecedented situation.

Planning is well underway for IMAT 2020, ASM’s re-imagined Annual Meeting. A diverse group of materials experts, including the ASM Programming Committees, AeroMat Committee, and all six of ASM’s Affiliate Societies, are heavily involved in building the technical symposiums, which will have a strong focus on application-oriented, real-world technologies that can be put to use today.

Student AM Competition
A student competition in Additive Manufacturing (AM) will be held at IMAT 2020 to promote capabilities of metal AM and the needs for education in this area. The winner of the competition will be awarded an internship at EOS, one of the world’s leading technology suppliers in the field of industrial 3D printing of metals and polymers.
